Address by His Excellency, the Deputy Govr of Zamfara, Mal. Ibrahim Wakkala, S. Malaman Gusau, at the 2014 annual general meeting of Dandalin Siyasa Online Forum, Held on 12th September, 2014, in Kano:

1• In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.
2• May his infinite mercies and blessings to unto our beloved prophet, the seal of the prophets, Muhammad, his family, Companions and all those who adhere to his divine teachings up to the last day of judgement.

3• My dear compatriots, I feel highly delighted to be here today to witness the 2014 Dandalin Siyasa Annual General Meeting and specifically identify myself with this great, highly acknowledged forum. As you aware, the last year’s Annual General Meeting was hosted by Zamfara State government. It was indeed very successful, impressive and informative. This time around we are here in Kano as a response of to the passionate request by the Kano State Government to host this year’s meeting.

This is a clear indication that Dandalin Siyasa Online Forum is gaining ground and making positive impact on the lives of the people.

4• Let me, on behalf of the forum, extend our appreciation to the Kano State government for hosting this meeting with all the hospitality Kano state is known for. It is equally pertinent at this point to salute the government of Kano state, under the able leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Limamin Kwankwasiyya for transforming Kano state in all spheres of human endeavor and for being the voice of the voiceless in Northern Nigeria.

5• Dandalin Siyasa Online Forum, as a social network, is not only a platform for strengthening social relations but also, in my opinion, a political forum where issues are discussed without resource to party affiliation. It is a forum that brings together people of various political interest to discuss and share views relating to emancipation of Northern Nigeria economically, educationally and culturally.

Dandalin Siyasa is a platform where intellectual discussions are held aimed at salvaging the northern region from the shackles of insecurity and political uncertainties.

6• Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, its my humble opinion that this year’s meeting should focus on topical issues affecting the once cherished, once feared, once revered, once envied northern region. This is so, considering the dismal state of affairs characterized by despair, confusion and highest level of insecurity ever witnessed by the north.

This forum through this meeting must therefore find it not only important but necessary to search for the missing link.

7• At this point, I will like to call on the northern elite and politicians alike for us to come back to our senses and realises that certainly this is not left to us by the founding fathers of the northern Nigeria. As we all know, our sages like the Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna and the prime minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, of blessed memories, paid dearly with their lives for championing the course of the region. We must therefore do all we could to keep their dreams alive. Recent happenings in some of our geo-political zones do not portray a promising future.

If things are to continue unabated, the future is obviously bleak not just for the present crop of people’  but also the future generations. We owe our forefathers and great heroes of our region a duty to sustain their visions and legacies so that their sacrifices will not be in vain.

8• Before I conclude, I would like to assure the members of this forum of our continuous support and cooperation at all times. We, the Government of Zamfara State, indeed share common aspiration with you of restoring the fast glory of the north and building a prosperous Nigeria that shall be the pride of all.

As you continue to champion intellectual discouses in Dandalin Siyasa Ondline Forum, I urge you to concentrate on exploring ideas that will guide our people and leaders towards building a stronger democracy that will meet the expectations of all.

9• Finally, I want to commend the effort of organizers of this occasion and all those who contributed to make it a success. I m particularly delighted for the wonderful opportunity given to me to chair this occasion. I wish you a fruitful and successful meeting.

May Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala apace our lives to witness more meetings of this important forum.

10• Thank you and wassalamu alakum…
