The senior driver to governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar of Zamfara state, Malam Idris has on Monday nearly cut-off the finger of the majority leader of the state House of Assembly, honourable Salisu Musa Tsafe, while in battle to earn relief from several sweeping blows in an unruly fight by the roadside over alleged rivalry on girlfriend.
Narrating the incidence to newsmen at the state House of Assembly premises yesterday, the majority leader disputed having affair with a girl that the governor’s driver was said to have paid her dowry, contending that his rival has never met with the parents of the controversial girl (name withheld) to formally process their marriage.
Tsafe has however claimed that, he has a long time business engagement with the girl as they use to purchase commodities from each other, ” I have called on Sunday from Kaduna to inform her of my coming to Gusau the next day, she pleaded that we should meet especially to discuss about the money she owes me”.
He further revealed that, it was during his visit to her shop at Tudun Wada Gusau, the state capital that, he found his customer in company of the governor’s driver sitting in his tinted glass car after which he drove away to allow his turn for usual business.
“Few minutes after Malam Idris left, he turned back to park by my car and wind down glass to embarked upon insulting me for coming to his girlfriend, I replied him she is not my girlfriend and has no any relationship that is not legitimate, we only interact as business partners”, he stressed.
The majority leader said he grew bolder as the insult continued but could not engage in physical fight while in public as insisted by Malam Idris, “The governor’s driver later insisted that we should go to bush for a fight which I angrily agreed and drove after him”.
“He parked again as he reached the low cost housing estate which is few meters away from the controversial girl’s shop, I did same to confront him during which he began to fiercely stretch his fighting hands against me, so I had to fight for self-defence, he bite-hold my finger until I gave him formidable blow on his forehead”.
The lawmaker said the Assistant Commissioner of Police in-charge of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the state headquarters had to finally intervene for mediation, warning the governor’s driver that, since he did not pay any dowry for his controversial girlfriend then, has no right to stop her mingling with anybody.
While contacted for comment, the governor’s driver, Malam Idris declined comment, but replied that the lawmaker should be contacted over the matter.
