The Zamfara State Governor, AbdulAziz Yari on Friday promised to build an international airport and 7,000 housing units as part of his administration’s plan to ease transportation, and provide shelter for the citizens of the state.
Yari, who spoke at his inauguration ceremony, said that 500 houses would be built in each of the 14 local government areas of the state.
He stated that his government would build an airport to both provide transportation and boost commercial activities in the state.
Yari said, “Our intending pilgrims will be airlifted from the newly constructed airport to the holy land come year 2016 Insha Allah”
The governor promised to fulfil his campaign promises of empowering women and appointing them as members of his cabinet.
“Our women will also be empowered as we promised during our campaigns and women as important stakeholders in the family institutions should be engaged economically to give them sense of belonging and help build up a morally up right society.”
